Choosing Suitable Toys for Pet Birds
Pet birds usually have a preference for toys that provide opportunities for chewing, shredding or preening. Work out which one your pet bird prefers then provide lots of different toys with its preferred enrichment. Natural toys made of wood, paper or plant materials are better than plastic ones. Be sure to replace or rotate these often as they get dismantled! Branches with leaves such as willow, eucalyptus or birch are perfect (just give them a good wash in the shower first!) but be prepared for the leaves to be picked off one by one!
Also make sure you use natural perches rather than plastic ones, to help your bird exercise its feet. Cork branches are excellent for this.
