A non-exhaustive list of safe leafy greens to feed your bearded dragon or tortoise and other vegetation loving reptiles

This list is not exhaustive, but here is a few ideas of safe leafy greens to feed your bearded dragon, tortoise or other vegetation-loving reptiles!

Safe Salad leaves:

  • Rocket
  • Peashoots
  • chichory
  • radicchio
  • Lambs lettuce
  • Watercress
  • Pak Choi
  • Lollo rosa
  • Frisee

Salad leaves to AVOID!

  • Spinach
  • Kale

Both of these are often mistakenly beleived to be safe, but they prevent the correct metabolism of calcium so are not recommended (although the accidental ingestion of a leaf is not toxic)

Safe Wild 'weeds':

  • Dandelion (leaves and yellow flowers)
  • Plantain
  • Milk thistle
  • Bristly Ox-tongue
  • Cat's Ear
  • Dead Nettle (white and purple)
  • Hawk's Beard
  • Sedum
