Does Your Reptile Have Mites?

Does Your Reptile Have Mites?
This weeks Tip of the Week is a summary of my longer blog article on reptile mites providing tips about where reptile mites come from and how to prevent them

Mites lay microscopic eggs which are thought to lay dormant in various substrates whilst they are stored at wholesalers and then once in a warm enclosure they hatch.

Often just a change in temperature is enough - such as a heat bulb blowing or a viv turned off when the beardie is away for holiday boarding.

Prevent reptile mites by microwaving fresh substrate such as aspen or bark before adding it to the enclosure. For help with step by step instructions to get rid of mites, see my blog post on reptile mites.
